I began oil painting about six or seven year ago. I started by watching YouTube videos and PBS re-runs of artist Bob Ross. Bob Ross was an accomplished artist and TV personality that had a program on PBS in the 80s and 90s called "The Joy Of Painting". Bob Ross gave step-by-step instruction on how to oil paint majestic sceneries, landscapes and other things of beauty. Bob Ross died in 1995 at the age of 52 but with the advent of the Internet and other social media outlets his popularity has grown to folk hero status. It's too bad he didn't live through the age of the Internet to see his popularity grow.
What is interesting for me is that I'm not an artist. I don't have an artistic bone in my body, however, by applying techniques that I've learned from all of the Bob Ross media and attending some Bob Ross classes I've been able to paint some pretty cool things.
All my paintings are for sale. For $10,000 or more I'm sure I could let one or two go! :)
